Lijoy sees beauty in things that are easily overlooked—like a plant stretching toward the sun or how effortlessly a skirt dances in the wind.

As a child, most summer days entailed being the right hand to her father, a contractor. She fondly remembers watching her mother paint or sharing one of her poems. These roots are what guided her towards fashion design. Lijoy believes that fashion is its own language, its interpretation endless. 

After graduating from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2017, Lijoy established her namesake clothing line. Shield seeks to provide its wearer with handcrafted everyday statement pieces. It is a constant study of what defines protection and strength. 

Lijoy welcomes the future as she embraces all aspects of the creative journey—the victories, the defeats, and everything in-between.
